I recently got a similar one. But the one I have has a second handle that sits further down the pole (moveable), that really helps with the ergonomics.
I was using it yesterday and had some thoughts... this thread is conveniently timed!
- Take small scoops of sand, about 2 cups worth, and give it a vibrating shake like you would a pitchfork with horse manure.
If you're not familiar with the motion first hand, I'm sure there must be demonstration videos for mucking a stall properly online.
- If you're needing to vibrate too hard and losing too much poo, try taking smaller scoops, 1 cup, and repeat faster.
- Make sure you have the length of the scoop set up in a way that works for your body. I took one of the 4 sections of pole off of mine from the middle.
- Then make sure you are holding it in a way that works for your body...
I prefer dominant hand up on the end, then left hand lower down the pole, and at rest the pole should sit sideways, with the basket in front of my left foot and the handle up near my right shoulder. (This was hard to describe!)
When you go to muck, you should not approach the poo straight on like a bulldozer, but have the target at your 10 o'clock and work in an angled fashion.
I hope that makes sense.
