My chicks are extremely determined to poop and kick shavings in their water as much as they can! Haha! My question is Should I change there water every time I find a bit of poop in it I clean it out as much as I can but just not sure what the protocol on this is. Thanks so much!

Chicks can be messy huh?!

Would you want to drink water with poop in it?

Can you try to raise the water up some to help prevent this?
Set the waterer up on top of something.

x2. I set my feeder and my waterer up on to a piece of plywood so the chicks have to actually walk on the wood to get to their water and food.

The experts will recommend chicken nipple waterers because that is the only way to prevent chicks messing up their water. Once the chicks are old enough to be hopping around they can climb onto an inch or two if you use something to raise up the water vessel. Shavings are not too bad except for soaking up the water, but poop in the water should be cleaned out.

I will change out the water now. It’s kind of tricky to raise it up I can post a pic of in case you have any ideas. Thanks so much for the response! It is yellow because of chick boost/probiotic powder in it.

Talk a walk around the house..look for something flat that you can set the waterer on top of.
Maybe a tupperware dish, a book, a piece of wood.

Don't let the chicks drink water with poop in it. Elevate it on a brick (or anything you find around the house) and change it when you see poop in it.
Ok I’ll change it out and keep changing it. Thats a good idea with the brick because I can’t really hang it. Thanks for the response and God Bless!
