Pooping small rocks - Contains necropsy photos (GRAPHIC)

Unfortunately the hen known as the talker didn't make it this time around. Not sure what happened but seems to have been something internal.

I was thinking about having her examined to see what went wrong. I believe is called a necropsy. Can someone point me to a thread or give me a tip. Thanks

I am so sorry for your loss. :hugs I know how hard it is to loose them, especially when you aren't sure why. I hope your heavy heart heals soon. :hugs

Oh and if you do get a necropsy done, keep us posted on the outcome. Most cat and dog vets can send the bird out for necropsy. Make sure to put the bird in a plastic bag and place in the frig, not freezer, and call your vet as soon as possible for an appointment.

Thank you............sometimes it's hard to lose them and some more so then others. The talker would follow me around inside the coop each and every morning while I cleaned and talk non stop............hence "the talker"

I lost my "talker" too last year. I miss that bird something awful! CONSTANTLY had something to say, she followed me around like a drooling puppy and would yank on my pant legs so I would sit down and she could fill her love tank as she got pet. She would sit on my lap as close to mommy as possible, just jammed up against me! LOL

Your girl knows how much you loved her. I am sure that these "talkers" are the ones that have really bonded with us, the ones that felt the most of our love.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Maybe because I kept her in the refrigerator over night so she wasn't warm. I'm not a diagnostician so all I can do is guess. I did find a fairly large rock in what I believe was the gizzard and the gizzard overall was kind of hard but maybe that is normal. I can post the pictures here in this thread but I'm not sure of the policy.

She wasn't really eating except for a few bites of watermelon in the end and very little poop. A small drop here and there.

I will wait for an okay to post pictures and maybe others can chime in with some thoughts. Thanks

It's okay post necropsy pictures. If you want, you could send a conversation to a moderator and ask the to change the title of the thread to include a warning that there are graphic pictures.
