We have six hens have had em for about a month now. All seemingly healthy (getting 3-4 eggs a day) noticed 3 days ago that one of the girls had a really poopy butt but walking around and hanging out normally. Before I went to work I looked at her from afar n I thought I saw a flash of red around her vent thinking it may be blood or something....then I get home and boom she is dead on the floor of the coop. I've read threads now and today gave them a brand new fresh waterer with ACV and a pie tin of layer feed with yogurt which the remaining 5 ate. Will this affliction get my others?! We didn't even have time to help her :(

Also I think one of the other chickens attacked my buff Orpington and mangled her comb. This is a few days old. What should we do to help her? She is acting normal and eating fine.

I don't think that is an injury. I think it may be either fowl pox or canker. I notice the bird has several lesions on her face and head. Zooming in on the pics initially made me think she has dry pox, but the more I look the more I am thinking she may have canker. Do you have a heavy mosquito population? Any other birds have any lesions on their face or in their mouths? Dry pox is a nuisance virus spread via mosquitoes, and is self-limiting and of short duration. Canker is a chronic condition that infects the whole flock. It can be treated but you need to be aware it is present for future considerations. Can you get a look inside her mouth and see if she has any plaques in her mouth and throat? I note she has a lesion on the edge of her beak. I am wondering if it extends into her mouth.
