Poopy butt, lowered tail

Sorry no one answered before. I have been gone much of today. Please do not soak her anymore. It can stress her out more. You can try giving her a human calcium tablet with vitamin d about 300 mg orally in case she is egg bound. The yellow urates in her dropping and her swollen belly is water belly. If she is having labored breathing you could try to drain some fluid off with an 18 or 20 gauge needle after cleaning skin with alcohol. I usually don’t drain my hens unless they are having trouble breathing. Her comb color does not sound good. Make sure that she is drinking fluids, and electrolytes, pedialyte, gatorade, or sugar water with a small pinch of salt are all good. Try feeding scrambled egg with a little water.

Thanks for responding. Breathing seems fine and I don't feel comfortable sticking her with a needle. I'm afraid I'd make it worse.

I've offered her sav a chick but she isn't interested. The only thing I've seen her interested in is that applesauce mash, but she really seems to like that so maybe I can mix some in there, along with a calcium tablet. I'm going to the store to get that now.

Here's her purple comb.

This morning she seemed like she felt better. Her crop felt hard, but small. I offered her a scrambled egg with the shell, a crushed calcium pill, some feed, and some mealworms and she devoured everything but the feed. Hopefully that means she's turning a corner.

The picture of her comb shows a little purple around the points. Many times that can be normal in large combed chickens, but she may be a little dehydrated or stresses. If it pinks up afterward, it is probably okay. Since her crop was not empty, but small and hard this am before eating or drinking, I would offer some coconut oil chilled and cut into small slivers to peck. Stool softener can also be used, or a little mineral oil in some egg. You can then also massage her crop several times a day to hopefully soften it so that she passes it. Recheck the crop early tomorrow and daily to see if it is going down.

She seems better. She was trying pretty hard to get out of the hospital pen when I went to fill up her feed. Also I had to fill up her feed, so she's eating. There was lots of soft, gritty, yellow-green poop, including on her butt. I'm keeping her another night or two.

I still have her in isolation, but she really wants to go back to the flock. This morning her crop didn't feel entirely empty but it was small. I only fed her feed and a calcium tablet and I gave her sav a chick. She ate the calcium tablet, then drank a lot of water, but doesn't seem that interested in the feed. She still feels bony.

following. I hope see gets better.

I put her back. They're all getting along fine. She still has a poopy butt but she otherwise seems ok. Should I bring her back into to hospital pen tonight?
