One of my laying hens has been giving us poop cover eggs! Like somewhat runny poop speckled all over the eggs. Ive been leaving the eggs unwashed, but am not sure what to do with these eggs! Should I be rinsing them? Brushing off the poop? I don't know! Nesting boxes are clean, I'm doing deep litter and so chickens are eating the same thing, this is only coming from one of my hens

Most of the time, my eggs are pretty clean. Every so often I will collect a dirty egg.....especially if it it wet or muddy. I clean ALL of my eggs with Dawn soap and a Sponge Daddy....what an amazing invention! I give away a lot of eggs and want them to look nice and clean.

I like to leave my eggs on the counter so I also don’t wash mine. If there is poo, I wash and put it in the fridge. If you have constantly dirty eggs maybe the hen’s feathers near her vent are poopy. I know some people trim the feathers back so they don’t collect poop. I wouldn’t recommend doing that unless or until the temps are back up. So I’d check out her butt... I hope you are able to find a solution!

Are you sure it's poop?
Pics please.
If not too poopy I store on counter and wash just before using myself.
If too poopy I just toss them.

I'd wash it off, refrigerate, and put it at the "head" of the line so you use it first. Good idea to check her vent to see if she's accumulating poop back there, though that might not be the issue. As I've recently learned some hens have trouble shutting off their plumbing when laying so they'll poop as they lay.
