Poor Cash found a rattlesnake...(graphic photos)

Poor thing! I'm glad he's going to be okay. Our dog alerted us to a rattlesnake by our deck steps last week and DH was able to kill it.

Yeah, we've lived in our home for 7 years and I've only seen one rattler that was up on the county road--about 1/2 mile from our house. My DH's parents have been here since 1988 and never had a dog bit. :\

My DH was talking to a co-worker today and he lost his heeler to one this past week. She got bit on the front leg and he took her into the vet and she didn't make it. :(

Yeah, it's a modified version of "avocado!" :) It's more like, "ava-taad-doh!" LOL I'll have to put the videos on youtube at some point. They're on my FB...do you have FB?
No FB here. This is as "social" as I get.

One of our neighbors (8 miles away) had a horse bit three times on the front leg. Luckily, she found a vet that would make a house call and got the anti-venom into him. It was a rough week, and the horse has lost alot of weight, but the vet says he'll make it.

With the drought, the snakes are following the mice closer into the homestead areas. We are all on alert for snakes in our neighborhood now. We are supposedly above the upper limit in elevation that rattlers will live at - wish someone would tell the rattlers that.

Sorry to see that your dog got bit - pulling for a full recovery for him!

Yeah, we're at 2500' or so and I've seen them higher than that. We've had several bad wildfires over the past three years and I think that moved the snakes around. We've always had lots of rubber boas and bull snakes.

Wow, that was ugly!! So glad your dog is better! A week ago Tues. my husband found a baby Timber Rattler on our carport about 3' away from the door we go in and out of 50 times a day. We are really thankful that we have not seen mom or siblings, cause I always wear my snake shoes...Teva flip flops :/~

Oh my, that looks awful, poor lad... My Border collie was bitten by an adder last week, it was either a Dry bite or very little venom because it didn't swell at the time just bruised really badly but yesterday I found a swelling so she is on antibiotics and the liquid ( no pus) that was drained has been sent to the lab so waiting for results from that, hope your lovely boy is feeling better very soon X
