Poor disco dude is getting picked on...

I have eight pullets ranging in breed and one silkie roo. The girls are picking on my polish pullet/roo (still not 100% on sex). It's gotten to the point were our polish would rather roost in the trees than be locked up in the coop with them. I'm thinking about buying another polish to introduce to the flock in hopes of finding a buddy to support our poor disco dude. Is this ridiculous thinking?

I have heard that sometimes the flock will pick on the polish because of their poof. They have been raised together since 2 days of age and are now 18 weeks of age so I don't see that being the problem. She/he is a pet bird and follows us around like a puppy. Could this be the problem its being picked on?

Any help or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
