So I live with my dad, I have an allotment because we don't have a garden. But my mum does have a great garden that my chickens can free range in. My hen went broody again and wanting some mixed pullets to add to my flock I bought a good mixed box of eggs, the chicks that hatched are: white Silkie, white pekin, blue Barbu D'Anver and 7 Japanese Bantams. They're all doing great except the Silkie, he has a pasty butt which I've asked about already but he keeps standing under the heat lamp and tilting his head back and gasping? For air. None of the other chicks are poorly, they're doing really well actually. This worries me because I don't know if he could've caught something from my hens or what and I have a batch of chicks due tomorrow, with only one heat lamp I can't keep him there, I took him from his mother because I can keep an eye on him but he's getting worse. There's no discharge and no one else has a pasty butt. They have apple cider vinegar in their water and chick crumble dusted in diatomaceous earth, I do this with all my chicks and it works great so I'm really lost. Can anyone help please? I don't want my other chicks getting ill.

Sorry forgot to mention- my mum has been taking care of them and she lets them free range on the grass, he's a month old so has he picked something up possibly??

Hi look up the term "Stargazer chick" or "helicopter chick" on the internet. see if either one of those sounds like your chick, and there should also be instructions on how to cure it.
Best ,
