For over a week now one of my chickens hasn't been right, I thought she may have been egg bound so help her in some warm water for 20 mins. Her comb is floppy and pale and she looks really puffy compared to her sister. She is eating and drinking. She is often found sitting down and opening and closing her mouth and I have heard her sneeze/cough. I have just made her a mix of spinach, olive oil and garlic but she's not eating it. Any suggestions?

Well she sounds broody to me but she could be sick also. She isnt egg bound she just wants to hatch her eggs and puffing up is just her being protective of her eggs. Does she make a cluck noise that sounds that sounds a bit different from normal clucks? Often a hens comb will go pale from just sitting in the nest all day I had one turn purple but it turns out it was fine, she was just determined to sit on her eggs, you can give her food and water in front of her to make sure she eats/drinks. When you said she sneezing she could be sick does she do this often if not she just have gotten a tickle in her nose I've herd mine do that but they weren't sick.

Hi, thanks for replying. She's not broody, she's more than happy to be out and about.

She could be in the first stage of broodiness they are often are out of the nest but they still puff up some.
