Well THAT makes me feel good...lol...because I did the one in the bantam coop and DH did the other one
The one in the bantam coop is no more than two (well, technically four) strips of scrap wood, two about 2 inches wide, and 2 beneath them about an inch wide, to create the gap for the track (just overlap, lining up the outer edges). Both strips of scrap wood are less than 1/2 in. thick... I'm not even sure what kind of wood the white scrap is - some cheap pressed stuff (almost with a masonite type covering) that I also used as a dropping board in the same coop. The scrap beneath is sturdier, but I wanted something discreet for the outside, since that shows. The track in the main coop is some kind of material they use to build machines with where DH works - I'm not sure what it's called. I was going to use that in my bantam coop, but went with materials I know how to use
