I thought we could have a little fun playing "guess the purebred...ness" err, "purity"?

This pullet is Pearl, bred and hatched here from known stock. Is she a pure Ameraucana? You guess!
Hone your skills, or if you don't feel like it, Pearl will accept simple flattery instead.

Very pretty feathers. I wish mine had looked that nice.

@EmmaRainboe , any guess?
Well, she certainly has all the traits to be pure...

But if she were I wouldn't see the need for this thread...

I don't really see how she could be 90% pure

So that leaves 50% or 75%

And while 75% might make more sense just because she looks pure,

I've definitely had 50% Ameraucana crosses that looked like they could be pure.

I'm gonna guess 50% just because of the nature of the thread.

I'm not sure how anybody could confirm it was "100 % pure" ... Chickens don't go by a pedigree ... The APA SOP just goes by mostly looks ... Never heard of them even using a scale to weigh them ...

I don't have Ameraucana, but have seen a few. My guess would be mixed, maybe 50%? But could just be not APA bred. I'd say that her neck is too long, wing set is too high, protruding above the backline, and the angle of the body seems off to me - like falling in the front, lack of breast. Pretty girl though and great name for her too.

Thanks! I appreciate your serious perusal.
I didn't want to be too wordy so I just put "pullet", but she's still growing her neck and tail feathers, some on her neck have the little sheaths still on, so it may effect the lines. And definitely the chest has yet to fill out. But we'll see what she looks like all grown out. Likely the wings will stay the same I bet.

Thank you! I was really pleased with the feather quality too :D Not my doing, it's the hard work of many Am breeders over the years, but she looks smoother still than her mother.
She may be on the light side for a Lavender, but gosh it has a silvery tone that stands out in person.

Well dang, now I feel bad. I'm sure she'll grow out splendid.

Don't worry! You may have simply seen things early that could stick around... or not. I should have been more specific about her age, but some things, like the wingset, are surely here to stay.
I rather adore her, but wouldn't have made the thread if I felt sensitive about it 😋
