Cracked corn does not loose it nutritional value as you stated. If you believe this so much prove it. Due not use wiki eather you will atomaticaly loose.

While I don`t have the time to redo my research on this matter, I offer this tidbit by the University of Ohio as an indication of the effects of feeding whole vs cracked corn. The study was done on cattle, but the facts are clear. If you think I`m wrong, you prove it. I`ve researched this stuff til I`m satisfied.......Pop

That would require buying brown paper lunch bags though

and I always burn it if I try the skillet or campfire methods.

I'll see what the birds think of it tomorrow

I use a saucepan and put about a tablespoon of oil on the bottom, toss in a handful of popcorn just enough to cover the bottom. Cook on high on the stovetop, swirling the pan constantly. You'll know when it's done because the popping will slow down, add some salt. It's soooooo yummy! I got all my roommates in college hooked on popcorn this way! It doesn't need any extra butter.

Ok lets break these graghs down
Fig 1 is avarage daily gain(ADG) verse days fed. On day 126 cracked corn is 4.2 lbs. Whole corn is 3.9 lbs. on day 188 cracked is 3.5 lbs and whole is 3.7 lbs. what that gragh shows is you will have greater gains in early feeding with cracked corn.
Lets look at fig 2. It ties in with fig 1. At 126 days 190lbs of cracked corn is fed whole is 187. At 188 days cracked is 185lbs whole is 205 lbs.
Using your graghs alone I have proven that cracked corn does 2 thing when fed to beef animals.
1= greater wieght gains are acheived.
2= Less corn is eaten
BTW your the one promoting junk science not me so you have to provide the data to back up your statement when it is called out.
Please note for any looking at gragh 2 the feed/day fed is for several animals not one. Studies use several animals at a time for anyone that did not know that.

The trick might be the swirling part. I try to do it right, but I also use cast iron and the ONLY draw back is that it's effin HEAVY!

You're right, that would get hard! Think of the muscles you'd develop!

Back on topic...I often feed my chickens leftover popcorn, including unpopped kernals. I figure it would get ground up in their gizzard. I don't know if it provides nutritional value, but it hasn't killed them.

The study Lollipop directed us to might have some applicability to chickens - if chickens had four stomachs like a cow has. Since chickens digest their food differently, the study is of no value. I searched but found nothing to indicate that nutritional value decreases due to cracking the corn.
