Porcelian Silie Chicks

No difference in the standard for lavender in silkies than in other colours (APA & ABA call it self-blue).

I spoke with George Mihalik (porcelain silkie creator) a couple of weeks ago and he agreed that the porcelains need to have mottle bred into them so that they conform to the true porcelain standard. Right now they have quite variable appearance. All lovely, but hard to document. He showed 3 or 4 in Tucson and none looked the same. One is close to mine (that he bred), but his has more lavender than does Issa. If you look at a porcelain d'uccle, that is the colour he wants to achieve.

I have yet to buy the first over priced Chicken from this george you speak of. He could speak for himself if he wanted to. How is it I came by the same chicken( and others)as you and him, not just once but 3 times not even trying? You guys have a lot of work before you. There are reasons I posted here rather than a private message. I still would like to be your friend Sonoran. Silkies are more than lovely no matter what the color! (you know I hate breading to color) The whole silkie color standard should be dropped period! But then where goes the money? So do say, how does george make a porcelain? Obviously they don't all look the same. Maybe I should say why?

Paul the grumpy old man

I still feel ignored until it suits your purpose. I truely want to be your friend!!!! One last thing... It is ironic that Your best "porcelian" named "Issa" is very close to my own named "Izzy" She was named before I was ever a member here.

How did you know I was going to email you about our boy Juan? I understand the color, Have a bunch over here now. The question still remains, has someone written down a color standard for the silkie in Por,IP, & Lav? If you take a bird to a show, you would think you would take something in writing, so the judge could give you a fair evaluation, based on the standard provided. If you say "oh it's Porcelain" Than they have to judge it, like an OEG or whatever? They would knock it down, saying, it doesn't have lacing or whatever. If the silkie could not have lacing because of the feather structure, than there should be something in writing saying it? Right?

Yeah after I wrote what I did I thought . I thought oops. looking for techincal. Ok. NO I don't believe there is a standard work up for porcelain or isabel. Lavender would have had to one written because of submission to APA and/or ABA they had to pay a fee and I guess turn in the standard @ the same time. Go to the ASBC.
Porcelain or IS for show. now I don't think it will matter. Look at my fake greys. They beat real (standard grays) all the time. There's a standard for that. But unless its a silkie judge most do seem to care. Take a look at partridge. same thing.
For the matter of taking a written standard with you for the judge. HAHAHA. Tried that with the seramas. Because unless the judge has them they have no freakin' idea how to judge them. And the ones who don't I've handed serama standard to both judges and the people running the desk. They all have turned the papers down.
I'd box part of your post, but don't get on these things often and haven't figured it out:(
