We wear cowboy hats here guess where?
So i'm new here and to chickens and to be honest i don't make allot of money so getting ready for chickens literally took me a a little more then two years mainly because of all the research i was doing. But this last week i took the plunge and i finally ordered the hatching eggs of my dream birds. Because after 3rd solid month of being ignored by my "not so local" bird sanctuary to say the least i was VERY angry. Talking over dinner with a friend i found out i could order the birds i wanted online. But i further found out just as i got the money together for the birds(and the ridiculous shipping). That the pullets i had been saving up for went from "in stock" from now until mid Aug to being completely back ordered until mid December in three days. So i was going to order the chicks of my dreams then they sold out until the hottest part of the year in my state so i ordered the hatching eggs. They still aren't going to be laying until the hottest part of the year in my state but something is something.

Anyway now that the back story is out of the way

The house next to us is a rent house and our nice but NOISY neighbors moved and the new people that moved in are such bASSpOLES they literally called be housing manger on us for having our grass too long and again two days later for having roofing shingles in our front yard (we bought the house and have been living here for 14 plus years without an incident) and last Monday they went after the lady down the street with the couple of roosters. I don't know what happened but i haven't heard the roosters in a few days. I wish i could ask her what happened but she doesn't speak English, Spanish or french. All i know is that they where going door to door asking if we knew where the crowing was coming from (i pretended i didn't speak English) now i think they some how made her get rid of her birds because technically we are not allowed them here. But she had them for years.

Now i am scared about hatching out roosters i mean i wanted to keep one if i hatched them out but not if those straight laced freaks are going to make me get rid of them? They are so highland park looking that i'm scared they might try to get the law changed to make it where i can't have chickens at all what do i do?

These people alone, can't get the law changed. People that are breaking the law, would be the folks that have roosters that shouldn't. Sorry, but it is true. And, that being said, it brings attention..of course.. to those folks that like drama .. like your neighbors from the sound of it, and then they will make noise about people with chickens period. Don't have a rooster. I can't have roosters either. I want to keep this cockerel I have sooo bad..so...I bought one of those rooster collars. They don't zap them. They keep them from gathering the air in their throat it takes to make that nice big sound..at least you hope so. He hasn't started crowing yet, so I am not sure how this will work yet. I hear that it works wonders on some, and not so well on others. Crossing my fingers. If he is still loud, I will have to place him some where else. :/ Will look for the place that I got my collar from. You may or may not want to give it a try.

Here ya go..
