Possible abuse

This muskovy duck just showed up at my house this morning after being missing for 11 months. She looks abused to me. I'm hoping someone can give me suggestions as to how I can help her recover.

She looks like she lost a fight with a weed wacker. I don't have ducks. I'd suggest that you get her on a good quality feed, give her some animal protein, and do a thorough mite/lice inspection. You might want to dust her for mites, just to be on the safe side.

Looks like she's molting and not waterproofed. Agree with LG's suggestion.

She looks like she has been over bred and now going through a molt...If you can?...Pen her and get her on Duck food...Add extra protein to her diet..Dry fish based cat food is great...Toss a few handfuls a few times a week to help with feather re growth...Feathers are protein....

If you plan to treat her for parasites ?...I would really look her over good...Adding chemicals to an already down Duck might be hard on her physically...Even wait a week till she gets a bit stronger health wise ....

I'm glad to hear that you guys don't think she's sick because i have 4 Swedish blue that i wouldn't want to become infected.

I have no opinion whether she is sick or not. She could very well be carrying a latent disease.

I'd quarantine her for a few weeks and get her healthy.

Ducks do not carry many diseases that transfer from Duck to Duck...They are not Chickens...I take in rescue Ducks all the time without any concern to my own Ducks...I sure do not rescue Chickens!
She needs TLC and will soon be back to her old self...
