Hi, I’m looking for some insight into my Turkey poults and a very sudden issue. I have 5 weeks old poults, they were naturally hatched and raised by their mom and have been living with my chickens without any issues. We have a large outdoor space for them and a rather spacious barn area for night. We had very wet weather recently, probably 50 mls of rain in the past 5 days and suddenly my poults seem to be sick. Brown around their eyes gooey discharge, they are not their usual self, lethargic and hunched over. So far 1 has died and the rest do not look good. My vet gave me Tetracycline Hydrochloride so I have started the water soluble treatment and have quarantined them. I’m not sure if this could be blackhead as I have not had this issue to date but these are the first round of poults raised with my chickens. I’m not sure if the wet damp weather has affected things… (my garden is not happy). Any advice on your thoughts as to what it might be and how to manage / prevent issues when raising a mixed flock is highly appreciated!
