Possible Broody Behavior?

Right after I posted that, I went outside to check, and she was out, so we went ahead and closed up access to underneath the shed. Hopefully, she can't get back under there. My grandpa isn't worried about the eggs going rotten. He's pretty confident that a snake will come by and snatch them up. Even if the eggs do end up getting rotten and stinking, he's not concerned, so I guess we'll never know if she had a nest under there or not.

It started yesterday. It's possible that she was going under there before, but she's only gone "missing" periodically throughout the day since yesterday. My dad couldn't find her yesterday morning, and about half an hour after he started looking, she came out from under the shed. Today, we haven't seen her go or come from anywhere. She was just gone this morning, and a couple hours later, when I went back outside to look for her some more, she was with the others. About an hour or two ago, she went missing again. I do believe she ate, but I don't know if she drank any water or bathed while she was out.
Well it's up to you as far as trying to get them out. Let us know what you decide and good luck.

I think we'll just leave them, since my grandpa seems so opposed to trying to dig them out. As long as Pyrrhos stops going missing, lol! I think I'll try to build a little nesting box for her, just big enough for her to go in and lay if she so chooses.

If any of the eggs are fertile she'll bring them out the day they hatch and you can have a little place all ready for her and ducklings by then hopefully the weather will be better. Keep us updated.

We blocked any entrances under the shed, so she can't get back under it. I was just gonna build her a little nesting box for when we are ready for the babies. I already have a brooder to put them in, niacin, and everything else they'll need. We just want to make sure a good number of eggs survive, which is why we don't want any right now.

Oh boy is she going to be upset. lol

Yes, she was quacking earlier, and she keeps separating from the others to go to the shed. Poor thing looks confused as all heck. Hopefully she moves on soon.

Okay, well, she disappeared again. But this time, we found her under the porch. No way to block that, so I'll go under the porch and look for eggs.

No telling where all she may have them hid. lol if you can figure a way to block off a section of their house so she has some privacy she may choose to lay in it, I took some scrap plywood and made a half wall in my goose house so Missy could lay in privacy. it worked.

No eggs under the porch. I'm going to build a nesting box just big enough for her to go in and lay, and hope that she uses that. She hasn't gone missing yet today.
