Possible broody hen

I’ve had a lot of hens sit on eggs. But my sure fire way to tell if they are there for good was the belly feathers. They pluck a patch a belly feathers out so the eggs come in direct contact with her skin. If she goes that far, she’s on a mission.

Ya I’ve had a few hens that sat on eggs and they will typically puff up and scream at me when I open the coop door. Also a reluctance to get off the eggs sometimes is an indicator for a broody hen
