Hi everyone!
I have a silkie who i think is going broody, but what I wanted to ask is if she rolls an egg under her when i place it in front of her, is this a confirming sign of broodiness, or would any hen do this?
I put one in front of my current broody, and she rolled it under her 10 seconds later. I tried putting a dummy egg in front of my silkie who i THINK is broody and she rolled it under her about a minute later. Is this a sign shes going broody or is this normal behaviour?

Most hens will do this.
If you have a current broody, you must already know the signs. Does your Silkie display any of them?
The only thing thats making me think she is broody is that the other night she spent the night in the nesting box, but I think she may have just laid a late egg and stayed in there because I found an egg the next morning. But yesterday she was in the nesting box since mid afternoon and was in there all night and this morning now too

Sounds like she's going broody, not because of the egg rolling (which many layers do while sitting in the box to lay) but because she's been in the nest box going on 18 hrs or so now.
