No problem at all!! I don’t mind helping! I personally would treat both at the same time, but it’s kind of a personal preference. From the picture on here, that bumble does not look bad at all, so I suggest just doing both and getting it all done at once. Plus if you have a tub to soak her foot in just plop the other foot in. I use a big black rubber pan with shallow warm water and regardless how the other foot looks it gets a soak too. It won’t hurt.
Hi! This morning when I attempted to take the scab part out, I think on both feet it’s too small and I wasn’t able to get either out after soaking for 30+ mins, so I just dressed both of her feet, wrapped them, and let her back into the coop. I came back down to check on her and one of her wrappings already fell off, so I redressed the wound but this time I put her on a roost with a rag to cushion her feet, and she hasn’t moved off yet. It’s recently rained here so it’s a bit wet, should I put her in isolation in the coop so she can’t go outside?
I would just keep soaking and wrapping with antibiotic cream to keep it moist until you can try to pull the scab off. You can try tweezers if you think they will work. I would say try to keep her out of mud, but chickens will be chickens. My duck munchkin has been struggling with bumblefoot for over a year. She got every single wrap off no matter what I used! She finally just had surgery to get it removed after a long hard battle. Hoping it doesn’t come back. Thankfully, your hens case doesn’t look bad at all, and you caught it early on. Feel free to keep asking more questions if you have them! I know what it’s like to struggle with this! Several of my birds have had it. Mainly, don’t give up! Get creative with ways to restrain your bird if needed, I use a baby bath towel thing that goes over the head of the bird, it works great for me!
Thank you for the help! Today I was able to peel one of the scabs off of her feet, and I made a little bit of progress on the other foot. It’s a nice day out and I was wondering if I would be able to free range her along with the rest of the flock or if I should keep her inside. Please lmk what you think
I cut thin strips of gorilla tape to make a wrap of sorts, after my hen got the first one off in a hurry. Duck tape would probably work as well. I've never used vet wrap and not sure what the difference is, but it works for me and I just cut it off and replace with new each day so far.
Hello again! I got both of her feet treated, and i’ve been wrapping them and dressing them every day since. Today, I noticed one foot looked like the picture down below today. Is this a part of the healing process, or should I take this out of her foot? Sorry for the dirt on the sides.
