I have a rooster that has a black patch on his wattle. Today, I noticed it's starting to split a bit. Could someone confirm? I'm surprised because it's not cold here in southern Japan but we have had some minus 2-3C nights lately.

And any insights to what can be done and what would happen if it's not treated. This rooster is pretty aggressive and won't be handled so I have no idea what to do if medication needs to be applied. Thanks!

It will keep drying up and eventually slough off. Leave it alone.

I had a rooster with frostbite on his wattles. It took a couple of months, but the damaged tissue dried up and eventually fell off.

I usually do not treat frostbite in wattles or combs. Since he is aggressive, I would leave it alone to heal in a month or so.
I found out for frostbite to use Neosporin antibiotic Not the one with pain relief and here's a picture of the spray so you don't have to get to close to rooster.
