I've got 10-12 lbs chickens living 80 ft up in Pines and Cedars. And when they fly down it can be scarey. I had one hit me in the back and cause me to do a face plant in the dirt once. The little bird in question barely weighs 2lbs, but it could have gotten hurt coming out of a tree. Most of these little ones are pretty nimble when it comes to flying. Is there broken skin? I think it’s possible they are injuring themselves by jumping off a place that is too high or getting their feet caught somewhere and panicking.
Thank you!Ouch! Poor thing!
That looks like bruising and inflammation to me.
If that toe is "flopping" around, I would try to get it stabilized to avoid it getting caught or whacked on something and cause further problems. If there are any cuts, definitely keep it as clean as you can.
I hope your little guy will heal up quickly!
