Also my brother who is 2 years younger looks much older then myself.

well I got my chicks all ordered. Went through Cackle Hatchery again I love their operators So helpful. Customer service great. Last chicks I ordered from them were healthy and did great. I have coming on April 30 the following.

25 Dark Cornish roosters for butcher mainly for a friend
12 Silver Laced Wyandotte's pullets
12 Black Australorp pullets
8 Easter Eggers pullets.

I will also let some of my Light Brahma's good broody later this spring.

I was originally only going to order 25 pullets I am a victim of chicken math.

i was going to get some for butcher but with the sickness here and way over run with bantams i just dont see it happening. had my roo all better, doing great and i see bright green poo. that is a sign of starvation among a couple oters. now, i know they have food and they are eating so i was puzzled, until i seen the mites anyway. another big whoha on my hands now. i can only hope its just in the barn and not the coop but i know better.

Twisted. My sister and I had a conversation similar to what you just said about your brother. She's two years younger than me and has 5 kids, I have 0. She told someone that it was her 29 birthday in two weeks and they asked her "which one"? Lol. I told someone how old I was and they just looked at me like I was a big ole liar. You may just be onto something here!

Granny,
Provent-a-mite is a reptile spray that can be sprayed directly on the animals and enclosures, but it is very expensive. I have also been known to water down Nix lice shampoo (for humans) and spray it directly on problem areas ( read: the ENTIRE enclosures, bottom, top, and sides!) +as well as the snakes. Think you could do it with the chickens?

Aww I'm sorry. I'm giving them one more day. Tomorrow I will open one or two up. Yeah there is a swap this weekend at the Ashland tractor supply.

I'm going to gilmanor swap this spring too.
I won't be going to the ashland one. Can't wait for gilmanor, though!

i will probably get some 7 dust and just drown it all, chickens, pens, coops. i know it works and it sounds easy. thanks for the suggestion.

Chick days still haven't come to Southern States. Picked up some buff brahma chicks at tractor supply, though. Told the guy there that some of them looked like they have pasty butt, and he had no idea what I was talking about. Just because they work there doesn't mean they're trained to care of their animals.

I ended up taking a lot with pasty butt, which I know is a big risk, but I felt bad for them. They're perfectly fine now, thank goodness.
