I had ducks for a while. Pretty cayugas. You don't need a permit for ducks where I live, but I had to get a permit last weekend for the chukars. You need permits for game birds around here.

Oh, ducks? I like ducks. I'd like call ducks one day, but you need permits to keep them here and I don't even want to know how I would go about setting up a pen/aviary/fenced in pond for them. Honestly, a federal permit AND a permit from the Department Of Fish And Wildlife just to keep a couple of ducks? Is it like that everywhere? Kind of ridiculous if you asked me, but I have my bird fix with the Cockatiels for a little bit. Just need to figure out whether they're male or female (not going well), then find mates for them if needed. Maybe one day I will get those permits... I have a really cool breeding project idea for call ducks... hmm...
