you would be lying.

I have a question for all of you Eggsperts. I read you can feed you egg shells back to the hens for extra calcium (crushed of course) will this not lead to egg eating hens if they think that shells are ok to eat???

Generally, birds are not this smart to connect eggshells with eating eggs. UNLESS they have broken into shells in the past. And most of the time feeding the shells prevents egg eating because they are getting more calcium when you feed them the shells. So, it is unlikely that it will turn your birds into egg eaters.

They say you should bake them at 350 degrees for about 5 or 10 mins to kill bacteria, but some people don't do this. I sometimes cook them. But cooking helps to dry up the membrane and you can crush them up better. Crush them up really good. This also helps to keep the birds from recognizing that they actually are egg shells. :)
