Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

thank you chirp. my guineas are FIRED !!! tick #5 i have dusted but the rain wont let it stick around. i dont want to dust outside of the barn because on the off chance they do eat one i am afraid it will make them sick. so probably more antibiotics in my future. ok, that didnt even make sense to me. how is the rain washing the sevin out of the barn? need more coffee. lol anyway its not in there. humidity?

What are you dusting with, granny? Are you treating ticks and mites? I use Sevin Dust, and it's perfectly safe for them. It doesn't hurt them if they ingest it, and it's not irritating as long as it's in a well ventilated area. You can buy it at Lowes, Home Depot, TSS, etc... Any place that has a garden center, really.

As far as using it... I apply it under their wings, around the vent, and on their feet.

Sorry, I should elaborate more on the ingesting it part. Clearly, if you put it in a dish as a snack, you'll have dead chickens left and right! Lol.

If you're just dusting, they usually aren't interested in pecking at it, and if they get just a little on their tongue, they probably won't be inclined to try it again.

tthat is what i use cheyen, but i didnt dust the chickens, i dusted the floor of the barn where i think i am picking them up. i didnt know if it would make them sick ingesting the bugs. ticks are bad this yr. the cats stay in the barn. i treated them but i dont think its working very well. i guess i could dust them too. if these ticks keep up i am going to poison the whole place. i already have a tick sickness from the first one.

Say SUBH did your pullet ever lay an egg?? If you had already posted it I managed to miss is some how. Have been opening the poop/pop door for the 5 week old shicks when the weather is nice most seem to stand in the doorway trying to decide what to do. One will look out the door and then at the other chick shirp at them and then run back inside. Silly buggers.

nope, no egg yet, unless she's laying somewhere she isn't supposed to, lol.
Chicks are so funny when they encounter something new. Mine used to do that now they mob me every morning when I open the door.

Time for another pic dump! This time there are some pics of Felix! He's been getting used to me handling him. He even sleeps under my jacket now.

These are the d'uccles eggs as of june 3rd. They're due sometime this week!

This is General Tso! Lol. He's such a funny little thing.

Don't mind the tank top, please. Felix is still pretty jumpy and this was the calmest he's been in a while. I couldn't miss the chance to take a pick. I had to move my shirt out of the way because he was hiding under it. He's a sweetie pie.

You can see a very grumpy looking d'uccles crokerel in the background of the pic of the serame/gamebird roo. See how big and red his comb is? He's only 3 months old!
