Possible hematoma/ infection

1yr old sex linked hen developed a limp about 3 days ago. Nothing wrong with her foot but on further inspection found a huge hot soft mass on her hock. Did puncture with a needle and bright red blood came out , nothing else

You might try warm compresses, if she'll let you. Other than that, I've got nothing. Good luck.

Welcome to BYC. Do you have any pictures of the legs? It sounds like a bad injury. Does it seem like her leg could be fractured? Does she hold the leg up or put some weight on it when she stands or walks? I would probably confine her to a dog crate with food and water for now, but she could atay in the coop or run with her flock. Do you have a rooster?
