Possible Necrotic Foot ? (GRAPHIC PHOTO!) RIP, Vada

But along those same lines, if there are pockets of puss, it's important to get the infection out. That's often why drainage tubes are inserted after surgeries or into very bad infections. You don't want to open any avenues for further infection, and certainly don't want to be doing any surgery on your own (!!!), but if there is an easy way to get the ooze OUT (kind of like popping a blister), it will be will be very beneficial. So long as you continue to clean a couple of times a day, she should be fine. Are there any obviously infected areas that look like they need draining? Is your vet up for surgically removing that bumblefoot lesion (or is that too costly?)?

There are no avian vets here and couldn't afford one if there was. The bumblefoot pus plug is gone and I didn't see any pockets of anything to drain, but will look again tomorrow. We've done so many "surgeries" for bumblefoot over the last three years that we know way more than we want to know! If there is anything that is holding pus, we'll ease that on out, but it didn't look like that to me this evening. Just looks like all the skin is coming off her foot. In the pics, on the middle toe in particular that yellowish edge along the side of the toe is skin that looks almost peeled back. The smell is worrying me, but I know that lots of congealed blood smells pretty darn bad anyway.

Nothing to add in the way of advice, but I am hoping for a happy ending to the story. Warmest wishes to all.

If this is the case, then it would make sense! Pooled blood, or a bad hematoma, is very painful and would cause her to not want to walk much or even move her foot much for that matter. The pressure that the bleeding causes inside the tissue causes swelling and it hurts.

Poor Vada. My fingers are crossed for her.

When my dad was little he had a rooster loose all his toes to frostbite and basically the roo had just little sticks to walk on. He gave him to a friend who had some space for him to run around in, and wouldn't ya know, that roo came to be the top roo once he got his strength up. Even overthrew the other roo.

I'm glad to hear the pus plug is out. It sounds like you're doing everything right by her! Keep us informed, and I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers!
