Ok, so I was so excited to finally have a cokoo marans pullet and get those nice dark eggs, but then my little Rosa turned into a Roberto. By the time he was 3 months old he looked completely roo-ish. I was sooooo disappointed and unhappily put an add on Craig's list for him. A nice man came and bought him and I was feeling ok about everything until the man made a parting comment that has been bothering me for days. The man said.... " Wow he is 3 months old and he hasn't crowed yet? They usually crow by now if they are male. Well thanks and see you later." Then he left and ever since then my mind has been whirling. Did I just sell a pullet? The one I've been waiting for!?!? NO! Yes? NO! Yes? Please help me settle this for my own sanity. Should he have been crowing by now if he were truly male?

u can tell sexes on a cuckoo marans by the color of them. they r noticeably different in coloring. i have 2 boys and 3 girls and they r about that age and neither of them have crowed. if ur baby was gray it was a boy if it was black it was a girl.

so, which was it a girl or boy? i hope it was a boy, crossing fingers for u.
