I have a silkie that has been fine all day. She laid her egg and did not get out of the box. an hour later i checked and took out the egg It has what appears to be a large calcium build up on part of the egg. Since then (several hours) she is still in the box and acting like she's trying to lay another egg. Her vent is clear and looks normal but she is very lethargic. Do I need to be worried?

She may have had two back-to-back eggs come down the oviduct, and one is now stuck because there wasn't enough calcium for two eggs.

Give her calcium citrate if you have it. If not give her a Tums. Calcium can help her push out the second egg.

Woke up this morning and the silkie seems to be okay, running around the chicken yard with her sisters. Thank you for your info.
