Possible sinus infection? Duck has foamy eyes

Glad to hear that punctured bill heals well, otherwise it sounds like a big thing. Luckily my ducks never had such injuries, although they also like to stick their bills everywhere they can reach.

Checked her this morning, foam on her eyes, but otherwise clear, skin around her eyes not injured or reddened, nothing suspicious. She went out foraging with the others today, but moved really slowly probably because she has trouble to orientate outside her run.

I will keep you updated about the old Lady.

After checking her over more and not really seeing any other signs of a sinus infection I ended up getting the Vetericyn ophthalmic gel and using it and within 2 days her eyes were cleared up. The spray is great stuff to have on hand if you can get it, I think the big difference between the spray and gel is the gel a bit stronger.
It is awesome stuff so glad to hear it's over with and she is good to go. Good job!!

Well hopefully the ACV and water will clear it up, if you can get the Veterycin though we highly recommend it.

So far the duck's eyes have not improved, but I suspect that she is not much into head-dunking so the ACV doesn't help her much, but on the other hand, the treatment has only started recently.

I will keep you updated.
Frank can you hold her and rinse her eyes out? either the 1Tab of ACV in gallon of water or a warm saline rinse just to see if it helps. I like to use the Veterycin because i can get it into their eyes real good but since you can get it, or maybe check and see if where you buy feed has anything for eye treatments for livestock, Terramycin Eye ointment can be bought here at some feed stores.

When I herded the ducks in for the night, the pekin was completely disoriented and bumped into any obstacle she could find. I then grabbed her and cleaned her eyes myself. I saw then that the right eye, the one I believe she is more or less blind on is beginning to close. I was not home the last few days but had left instructions for her treatment so the development was new for me.

I'd keep doing the cleaning yourself with either eye flushes and see what you can find in an eye antibiotic it may help and it may not but worth trying.

Since yesterday I believe to notice some improvement. Before the treatment, the duck had foam over her eyes almost every time when I checked for her, now the eyes seem to be clean for the majority of time, and when there is foam it is less than before. The duck also has started to go out foraging with the others in the yard again. She still sees badly, but at least the additional confusion caused by the foam is now reduced.

Thanks again for the advice, Miss Lydia
