3 weeks ago my hen got her leg stuck on my neighbors fence. I splint it, cleaned some open wounds she had and I thought it was going well until today. She’s been trying to walk on her own, I noticed her toe (the skinny looking one) is dead! it’s stiff, no blood, and hard to bend.
😭
I thought I was doing everything right. What do I do now? Amputate it on my own? I cannot take her to a vet, just can’t afford a bill like that at the moment. Do I let her just live her life like that? Will the toe fall off? Please any advice is helpful!
*********The purple stuff is blue kote.
She’s acting happy, eating and drinking, I know she’s been wanting to go out with her flock because she always looks out the windows and makes noises when she sees them.
😔

How is the toe?
well it looks worse, half the toe on the middle toe is starting to go black, the bottom of her foot us super swollen and red and hot, her ankle is turning black now too, it looks like the entire foot is going to fall off, shes eating and drinking, but i love her so much im sad to put her down. everyone keeps telling me to it because its the right way to not let her suffer.

Could you get a picture?
You don't have to cull her, many people have dealt with this. Some have lost toes and parts of the leg on both legs and can get around.

I'll get a good picture in the morning, I have her in my laundry room, I been trying to let her rest so she can really heal. Ugh this sucks, I hope not.
