Possibly dumb newby question

Welcome to BYC!! My first year in chicken keeping I put my chicks in the coop and believe me they huddled in one corner! They made a pyramid!

Your chicks should be fine but you could put a light out if you think it is too cold at night! Good luck!

Mine are 6 weeks and the light is going out tonight, we are still getting to freezing here in Colorado at night, but they are all feathered out and wearing a down coat remember! They are fine, just need to readjust to new surroundings....NO dumb questions here!! Welcome!

I am a newby also. When I put my chicks outside at first I do put a light out where they can get under it if they want or stay out from under it if they want. Just makes me feel better giving them the choice. I do also have a closed in smaller "house" for the bitties to stay in until they get bigger.

I ain't no spring chicken :

I got on here this morning looking for an answer to this question! We put our chicks out yesterday for the first time and plan to lock them in their coop for a few days, but last night we checked on them and they were all huddled together. It was about 65 degrees last night, but we were afraid they were cold because they had been used to the heat lamp. So we put the heat lamp in the coop to be sure.

Now i can remove the lamp and rest easy that they are NOT cold! Thanks so much for all the feed-back!!!
