Helloooo, I hope everyone reading this is doing well. So I got some Brahma chicks a few months ago that have turned mature recently. Now I’m quite sure the problems I will be talking about are inherited and therefore incurable. First off the roo has a bad leg. He can still walk and apparently even father chicks as he somehow got with my silkie hen:eek:. The problem was not there when it was a chick and popped up slowly. I’ve read other threads on this and I’m quite sure I’m gonna have to just let him live out his days as he is. The main reason for this post is the hen, she has become increasingly lazy and usually just sleeps for 6-8 hours per day. Usually when I see this in my chickens, they’re on their deathbed. But this hen has been like this for maybe a month now. The hen also has a drooped wing as of this morning for which there is no explanation. I’ll post some pics of both the roo and hen. Would be very thankful if someone can somehow “cure” the hen. Anyways sorry for the long post and thanks for making it this far:p

That’s quite interesting. I’d try and contact the breeder..or store to see if anyone else’s chicks turned out the same. It could be genetic, but I’ve not heard of anything like that. I’d strongly look into vitamin supplementation. Honestly, that’s your best bet, and vitamin deficiency does look like stuff like you described. I had a rooster who slowly started to exhibit not being able to keep his balance and after awhile (treating with antibiotics as a last resort with zero change) he got worse to the point he couldn’t walk at all or support himself. I found an article about ducks stating the same symptoms and turns out it was a vitamin E deficienc. So I started to give him vitamin E, 9one capsule a day, torn open and the contents emptied into food) and he walks fine now. So, it might not be that vitamin but I strongly encourage giving those effected some vitamins, or do some research on the symptoms.
Wishing you the best of luck with this.
