I had ducks as pets, and I haven't heard of chickens being as bonding or pet-like. I do love chickens though, but I don't think I have the tools necessary and doubt my parents will respond to that shift in interest. It was really ducks I wanted
I am really sorry for your lost...reading about it and looking at the pictures brought me to tears. I know when you lose something so precious it's difficult to consider adopting a new one, but remember there will always be someone and something needing to be loved.
Don't close the doors for new experiences before I read your post, I posted in my FB page, "If someone would have told me that at age 33 instead of having a dog or a cat in my lap, I would have a chicken, I would have die laughing."

This little girl came to me when she was 2 months. Two days after I got her, she was attacked by my brahmas and nearly die bleeding. I took her in and had her with me 24/7...almost 3 months since she was injured and she is healthier than any other bird. She has adapted so well to living indoors...I wish I could explain the bond we have, but no words exist to express it...just know that anything is possible if given the chance.
that is the most adorable little girl ever!<3 congrats, I hope I can get out of this grief soon and just focus on the goods times I had with my babies. It hasn't been helping much though when my friends and family call me about it...I can't even talk I just cry
So I obviously have had a close bird-bonding experience too. It brings so much happiness when they are around and twice the amount of pain when they're gone.
