No. It started with an S. Now the vet won't give me the medication because they didn't "see" the chicks. I was there with another injured, younger orphaned chick I found. Not sure what's going on in our neighborhood this year. In 25 years, I've never seen a chick without a mom.

They wanted to amputate that one's poor toe. They were willing at that point to give me the medication for the others. When I declined and found a wildlife rescue to take the younger chicks, the vet refused to give me the medication. $167 later. Ugh.

So now my neighbor is driving the chicks to the rescue and I'm driving down to the fish store in search of fish zole. I was there yesterday and I did see they had poultry sulfa tablets. Will that plus the Corid suffice?

The Guardia is not that much to worry about, the cocci can be treated with sulfadimethoxine and to a lesser degree with Corid. Some people will control cocci with metronidazole, but I prefer the sulfadimethoxine and medicated chick starter with amprolium. I think the sulfa liquid is available without a vet script.

Sulfamethoxazole, usp.............400mg
Trimethoprim, usp......................80mg

Ok. I picked up the bird sulfa and Purina medicated chick starter 18% crude protein. Heading home now to administer. Fingers crossed!

So after going out and getting all this stuff I read this thread and am starting Corid with non-medicated feed. Thank you so much for your help!

You can give it with medicated feed.
