Possum attack at night, how do you keep them away?

The possum has found them before when we used to free range all day. Ever since, we've locked them up at night and the possum hasn't managed to get in since. It got in before we locked them up so just lock them up earlier then?

Yes, that is an easy fix that costs nothing. You can assume the threat from night time predators begins at dusk.....so as soon as the last bird goes in, the next sound they hear should be the slamming of the pop door behind them.

Live trap and shoot the possum, or shoot the possum, or otherwise kill the possum. Make sure your coop is completely predator proof and shut all the birds in tightly before dark, without fail, each and every single night. It is your job to see to it that the possum can not get in your coop or touch your birds.

in all three of my coops I have concrete floors.
nothing burrows in.
on my main coop, I have two tiers of concrete blocks. nothing chews it's way in through there either.. I have a tight fitting steel people access door. bought second hand for $5.oo. it is well over 35 years old. maybe closer to 40.
I do have to fix the loose window in it, though.
the window rattles and leaks air, but nothing has reached high enough to push on it.
the pop door is weighted with a piece of heavy steel. once it goes closed, nothing can pull it open. I have a rope and pulleys on it to open it..

it cost me a bit to build it this way, but I have not lost a bird to predators in it since i built it way back in 1977..
do the math,, how many birds does it take to pay for it ?
