Good news though! Today, they called when my 5 little EE's showed up. We got them and the whole post office wanted to see the chicks.

However, we have still heard NOTHING about the first incident!

Anani is doing very well. She is the prettiest chick.

Hi I am sorry for your loss. I recently went through something like this with our PO. I was refunded the postage and was reiembursed the value of the package so I can reorder them again. They are not required to have anyone accept the package if there is no delivery conf. But, if they are labled to call you and to handle with care they are at fault! Because they did not do that. Keep the box, go into the post office with the box and talk to the Post Master. Explain that it clearly says on the box live chicks handle with care, and hopefully they will compensate you. But, it is up to them what they want to do. Every postmaster has the right to help or not to help. I hope you have a simpathetic post master. Good luck!

What an idiot!! Why would they even bring them out?? Did you not call them to let them know the chicks were on the way??

Unfortunately, the post office probably won't do anything about it. They kind of stink with things like that. I had my carrier hang a box of hatching eggs on my mailbox (1/4 mile from the house) a few days after Christmas. Of course, it was stolen, the person probably figured it was a late Christmas present. Not only did the post office do nothing, but the police didn't care either. It didn't matter that these were stolen property that I had paid for.

I really hope they do rectify this, but don't hold your breath.

Honestly, I am not expecting anything. My main goal is for them to have a system in place for when animals come in.

I really can't stand my postal carrier though. I haven't seen him yet, but it may not be pretty when I do. I am the kind of person who handles things in two ways. One is that I am really mellow, but I have a slow burn. Or I am crazy and then forget about it. On this one, I have been doing a real slow burn. So when I see the post man. Oh man. It just may not be a good thing.

I would think it would just be policy that anything labeled 'live' should be held. I had gotten some goslings a few months ago, and luckily (after the stolen egg incident) I now have my carrier trained to call me when I get packages. Good thing, cause when he called me about the goslings, he asked if I wanted him to bring them out

Uh, heck no!! He doesn't get here until at least 3 pm, those poor babies had been traveling enough!!

Oh boy, where to start! I can't say anything that someone else hasn't already said, but I will anyway! So sorry about your babies... That was complete stupidity on his part. I have had chicks, ducklings, and goslings delivered through USPS multiple times, and never once had anything like this happen. I always made sure to let them know in advance that I didn't want them delivered and they needed to call me as soon as they came in so I could pick them up... Luckily they did always call me. I would do everything I could to make them reimburse every cent. I know it won't replace the babies, but it will hopefully get them to think a little bit more next time... Which apparently they did, since you got your EE's no problem! I wouldn't give up on reimbursement.

If I ever saw that guy again, he would be in trouble! Just remember, don't do anything too rash

we have 2 mail carriers( the regular one and the substitute) I can't stand the regular one and I have caught him not coming to my house one day... If there is a puddle on my road (he drives a jeep) he won't go thru it... I was waiting for a check in the mail and Iwas outside all afternooon untl 6 pm.. he didn't show up... I checked the mail at 7 am the next morning.. still nothing.. I checked the mail at 11 am got mail... well at three the substitute mail carrier shows up with my mail... I think he just hates coming down my road to turn around...I can usually tail when hes been to my house because it is sandy in front of my drive way and mail box...

How adorable, I'm glad she is ok. I do hope the post office punished the postman and make shim pay for damages, distress, murder and another order of new chicks just like the ones you where supose to get. I'm sure we can think of more punishment before they fire him.
