ozark hen and deb I'm so pleased for your happy ending! You did everything you could to make a smooth trip for them and just thank goodness for kind postal workers. I'll check back for pictures. No doubt they'll be recovered in no time.
What a very harrowing experience! Deb & Ozark, you did everything you could and I admire you both for it. It took a lot of courage for you to stand up to the USPS so your birds would be found.
I have to tell you all that this morning reading all these comments brought me to tears of gratitude to each and everyone of you. I am very moved at the support here. Here is a link to the little lost ones in their new private coop. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=193035#p193035
OH MY GOD! I can't belive this whole story. I've been away from the site for tooooo long, signed in today to get myself caught up, and this was the first thread I read. Should have skipped to the end, but I didn't. My heart was racing, still have tears in my eyes, but now they are for the happy ending.
So glad for you!
P.S. now to keep from having a heart attack while I'm catching up with everyone, I'm gonna just skip to the end of the threads and work my way back....
thanks ...it seems that Deb and I weren't the only ones shedding tears these past two days. It seemed much longer than that. I have come to grip with the fact that NEVER expect chickens for at least 48 hours and they will survive.
As a footnote to this long story... I just got an email from the U.S. Post Office tracking service..???/.. they now list all the points of scanning the box of chickens(which no one..I repeat.no one...could find during this "shipping" and they are telling me now they were delivered?? How weird is that? Ok, time to let this go. Thanks to everyone!!
Update:
here is Capt Jack Sparrow, he is quite a charmer now. I just love this bird
Here is Scrapper, he, too, is a sweetie
Now the little red one, named Clark Kent since he was so mild mannered...operative word WAS in on your left. He has turned into quite the trouble starter.
All birds are doing well, in fact, I actually gave away one of my favorite purebred silkies in leu of Capt. Jack. I only did this because I now have 18 hens and 8 roosters after giving away two of them tonight. Hard to get rid of them when you get so attached to them but too many for my flock.
