33 hours????? I hope they get your money back if they guarantee it....(yeah right!) I am certain they probably be in MO in the morning. Something tells me they are not flying these birds, they are trucking them all the way there. Not usual either.

At any rate, the PO must deal with what Fed EX had done to point A to point B and if point B needs to go to point C, then the PO must take the birds from point B to C.

For example, my Hamburgs came out of OR, airflight to St Louis, then the PO truck ship from St Louis to Springfield, IL PO then transfer truck from Springfield, IL to Decatur, IL......all toook less than 24 hours. Its easier for PO to get to point A to point B on major hubs and truck the rest of the way.

I am still waiting on a pair of Silkie girls out of OH and she is waiting transfer to be OK'ed by the PO to ship those birds to me.

Its not all that usual to get birds anywhere from 24 hours to 53 hours but no longer than four days...its extreme but my original hamburgs made it in five days.

Rule of thumb, if to ship birds out, always give more fruits than you really think it would be, like one apple would sufffice the trip, put in two to three apples. I'd rather pay more weight for the fruits so they can be alive.

If your birds have not shown up ,something tells me that someone took them or stole them. Not that usual for employees to phisfer things out and declare them LOST.

Don't give up hope. A few years ago I had a pair of call ducks being shipped to me...They were lost for 2 days past when they were due before they finally showed up. The guys at the nearest airport shipping center called me when they got in because they had been alerted to the fact they had been "lost in transit" and thought I would want to come get them rather than have them wait to come to my local post office. Hopefully you'll get someone along the way that gives a sh-t too. I gladly drove the 50 miles to pick them up!!

Check with Fed Ex. They may have the birds. Their hub is in Memphis. When our birds were missing the post office had no record of where they were because fed ex had them.

They sent my box of adult geese to Memphis on the way from TX to CA. I dont believe that Memphis has ever been "on the way" between TX and CA. (snort) That took an extra day. That was after Fed EX failed to ship my overnight express package until the next day. When the birds finally arrived in CA, Fed EX left the box on the tarmac.

Also, the post office can track the package by its weight. Check your receipt for the exact weight.
Thats what a postal employee did for us and thats how she found out that the birds went to Memphis first and then to Oakland where the box was left sitting. A postal employee finally found it and felt sorry for the birds and drove it to the main mail routing center. It was close to 3 days before we got the box.... ripped it open right there on the dock at the postal sorting center and gave them water. The poor things were filthy and very thirsty but otherwise fine.

Definitely take Jody's advice and call the Expidited Shipping office and ask them to track the box by its weight and ask them to contact Fed Ex, too.
Oh, and demand a refund. The person who shipped the geese to me got the $100 shipping cost refunded.

Good luck,
Chel

I am so sorry Deb. It is in no way your fault. Please don't be hard on yourself. You did everything you could for those birds.

I still think they are ok somewhere out there.

That is absolutely atrocious. I received a trio of seramas from Wisconsin(?) and they got here in 2 days. Our Mail lady is amazing(thankfully) and when she got there first thing in the morning she argued w/ her manager to let her bring them over personally, and she did. Post office opens at 7:00, we got our birds @ 8:15.
That is so sad, and after everything you guys have been through with them. I hope you get them back, one of you. If someone stole them, let's hope they get sent/sold by the thief to a good home.
I think I would rather have seen mine stolen and at least cared for rather than have them die in transit.

some of you are missing the point here due to the stress of this whole situation...they were shipped EXPRESS OVERNIGHT so there was no food or water in the shipping box! Had we known this would happen Deb would have gladly put some fruit in the box. she was GUARANTEED that they would be here today. We are trying to think positive and hope one of us will receive them tomorrow and God willing they will be alive. You guys have been great with the advice and prayers as I have followed most of what everyone suggested. I would never ship a live animal after all of this.

I feel terrible for the chooks but in reality.......HOW COULD YOU SHIP THEM WITH NO GRAPES, APPLES OR ANYTHING.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but there are NO GUARANTEE'S with anything in life, especially when it comes to the postal service. I hope the birds show up alive, but part of the blame lies with the shipper, not just the carrier. I cant tell you how much this ticks me off. :thun

SORRY, I GUESS SOME OF US ARE HUMAN AND MAKE MISTAKES AND WE ALL CAN'T BE PERFECT NOW CAN WE? PLEASE DON'T BOTHER TO COMMENT AS EVERYONE IS UPSET ENOUGH OVER THIS.
