Some primetime show did a whole thing about FRAGILE packages being shipped UPS, USPS etc. They found that packages marked Fragile were actually dropped and mishandled more than the ones that were not. I guess it all comes down to work eithic. Those who care about their job, and their customers go the extra step to ensure that they give good service not matter what that service is, those who don't have work ethic just could care less and do what they want. And they are also the ones that are so surprised when they get sacked for not doing a good job.
