Post office throwing boxes

Some primetime show did a whole thing about FRAGILE packages being shipped UPS, USPS etc. They found that packages marked Fragile were actually dropped and mishandled more than the ones that were not. I guess it all comes down to work eithic. Those who care about their job, and their customers go the extra step to ensure that they give good service not matter what that service is, those who don't have work ethic just could care less and do what they want. And they are also the ones that are so surprised when they get sacked for not doing a good job.

i hate post.... one time i ordered some eggs online, and luckily, i was home when it arrived. i saw the truck pull up, so i went to go grab it as soon as he left it on the porch. the box was SOOOO HOTTT!!! i almost had to put it back down. it was THAT HOT. does the term "PERISHABLE" and "FRAGILE" and "HANDLE WITH CARE" mean ANYTHING?!?!?

i got a 10% hatch rate. thanks post office!!!

There was a thread on here the other day about shipping eggs, the OP said that if the box is marked "SYRUP", the post office will make sure that the box is not kicked around or thrown because if a box with syrup breaks, their machines will mess up. so they take extra caution with boxes are marked "SYRUP"

Hi! I agree, poor service and poor attitude. I wonder if the usps employee meant to say 'the only way to be certain the package will not be thrown is to ship express mail'?
At any rate, I would have have asked to speak with the postmaster/supervisor/manager at that point --- just to clarify. Why wait until after the fact?
I hope the eggs do travel safely.

I think (or hope) that what she meant was that if the box went a faster service it would be handled less or at least by less people. The post office nor the UPS nor fed-X have special people for special boxes. The trucks have no air conditioning, they have no heat in the back and very little in the front by the driver. So if its hot out your box will be hot.....um so will the driver. Boxes do get dropped or caught in the conveyors or in "log jams". But for the most part it is an accident, doesnt mean the driver or employee doesnt care about his job.

Most employees dont even notice the notes on the boxes, just look for the sort number or the address label they need to sort the package. Every box has fragile stamped on it, or glass, or liquid etc, what would we do different? like go ahead and drop this one but not that one? Why? makes no sense. At UPS we treat EVERY box the same, makes no difference what is printed on the box. And every box is just as important to the person who is sending it and receiving it as the next persons box. We treat them all the same.

I know a lot of the postal workers in my area and they work the same way at the post office. Seriously they work so fast, really do you think they have the ability to separate and treat differently a box with fragile on it? And do you also treat bags of clothes that say fragile on it or reams of paper that are box printed with fragile on them separately also, and are people willing to pay special rates for special employees?

This is what I got from my shipped eggs - mind you, shipped from a local breeder in my State....

Anyone got bacon to go with these scrambled eggs?

Paying for Express mail wouldn't help...they throw those around too.

I would never attempt to ship eggs with the post office here. I ordered some live plants a few months ago and they won't leave a box at our door if we are not home, and they also don't leave a card saying to come get the package...it sat on a shelf in the post office for a month before anyone found out what happened to my package that never arrived...of course everything was dead.

Wonder why people don't use the post office anymore. Right before my DH and I got married he sent off a stack of bills. A few weeks later he started getting shut off notices. They lost the entire stack of bills. He had to run around and pay them all quickly and stop payment on the checks he had sent......a year later...a year mind you....he got an envelope in the mail from the usps with a note apologizing that they had all but shreaded the envelopes that he had mailed. They got jammed in something and they had just found them!!!

There are some people out there that I would really like to buy eggs from. Luckly one of them lives in the state right above me. The day will come when I want to buy some eggs from her.....when I do I will make arrangements to drive up and pick them up!

Luckly....I think that is supposed to be luckily....lol.
