Post office throwing boxes

It would be interesting to know the long-term affects of poor postal service on survival of the fittest regarding our chickens. LOL Only the strongest eggs survive!

I imagine the only thing express mail would give you is to have your box thrown faster. LOL Sorry... I feel your pain. But someone mentioned using UPS or FedEx... I've actually had equally abysmal service from all three providers. FedEx sent rare, irreplaceable orchids to Wyoming (I live in Colorado-- they arrived dead and refused to pay for it because they claimed bad weather necessitated the diversion, even though Wyoming, Colorado AND Memphis-- their major hub-- enjoyed 36 hours of no weather delays-- with overnight shipping, they had plenty of chances to at least get it to the right state-- working in aviation makes it easy to track these things). UPS doesn't deliver a package without being soiled, torn, smashed or all of the aforementioned, and everything inside reduced to pieces for your ease-- making it easy to remove it from the wreckage. The USPS likes to deliver my live plants etc to the north side of our house... there is no door way there... why do they put it there? There is a walkway but no door...how do they think we get in and out of our house? I've found boxes sitting in our field from the USPS because the wind carried it there! OMG ....speaking of survival of the fittest...it applies to companies, too! Sadly, the USPS's poor service is a certainty so long as its a provision in the Constitution.

Someone did say packaging being the key-- sadly, you have to go overboard. When I send living plants, they're wrapped so well, it takes a small team of people with surgical skills to extract it-- but they always arrive alive, provided they're actually ever delivered.

Take a deep breath... find something to smile and be thankful for and move on-- you're not alone in this!

I thought DHL went out of business a few years ago, maybe its just in my area but I havent seen a truck in a long time. Not that Im glad Im not alone but several people I have been getting eggs from lately have done a great job packing but I always have at least two blown aircells, so I guess Im feeling a little lucky now. Last Spring all of my shipments arrived perfect but I had 2 in the fall that were just scrambled. Must of been when they started closing all the P.O's and everyone started getting an attitude there.

I've received broken eggs 3 times already from the post office. They were all wrapped with bubble wrap and newspapers. They just kick and throw boxes around!!!

The thing is, You cant pick or choose who your seller ships with. Of course odds would be better with UPS or DHL or FedEx but every single seller I have seen uses USPS for one reason only.....Flate rate shipping boxes and cost. Sellers charge upwards of $18.00 to ship eggs and there is no way it cost that much to ship a small box with the USPS even priority!! I think sellers should ship with better carriers. I have a shipment od 12 lovely Blue Laced Red Wyandottes shipping out tomorrow from the USPS. I have never received a damaged box from my post office but my mail is damaged some times. They will leave boxes with my mail wrapped with a rubberband if it wont fit in my mailbox. This will be my first mail order eggs. I can only hope and pray that they arrive safely and are not scrambled! so

Sellers....for the same price you charge for shipping....You could ship thru UPS,FedEx and DHL......So why not????

the last 3 usps boxes I got werent Flatrate boxes-they all paid between 11-13.00 so that wasnt the issue. The one box of eggs Ive gotten through UPS arrived perfect, I would like to see if that would keep happening

My fist ebay eggs arrived in box placed in a cushioned hand carrying plastic carrier. WIth a big sign taped across the top with a picture of eggs on it. I thought hey this is a good thing. And bid and won on three more orders. They arrived normal. Boxed with fragile. Needless to say some were broken. I need to ask that first provider how they manage to get the hand on treatment of those eggs.

I work for UPS. We have a very strict policy of "hand to surface" with every package. Displine is issued with those caught not complying. Let me say again "Caught." I must say the worst damage in our organization is not throwing or dropping. It's the crush factor. So many boxes, too fast, get crunched. I would say that is 90 % of damages.
