Post office throwing boxes

My mailman told me the workers NEVER look at "fragile" or any other writing on the box. They only read the address or code while handling and sorting.
On the other hand, none were broken when I received this box.

Threads like this make me sad too. I carried mail for some 18 years before being injured and transferred to other jobs in the post office. I've seen nearly every type of postal facility there is from the small rural offices where I've inspected routes both in the office and the street to huge city carrier annexes to major sort facilities to administration and human resources offices.

The local post offices are where the people are that really care and unfortunately that is the people that nearly always get blamed for damage. It is the huge, factory type sorting facilities that mail must go through where damage usually occurs. No one throws anything to "feel big" - they do it because that is the way they must do it. You might think it's no big deal to take a couple extra steps to set something down gently but imagine doing that over a thousand, even a couple hundred times a day - you're talking serious time lost, and these people are all being pushed to work faster, faster, faster.

Think too about how we almost all receive mail daily from the post office yet only occasionally from UPS, etc. That should give you some idea of the relative volume they are dealing with. The less you have, the easier it is to be "gentle."

Unless it's marked as hippiehen has suggested, it will get sent in the normal mail stream where there is a chance of crushing and they will, without any doubt, get thrown at some point.

Rude people in Norco? No...

The UPS guy that delivers to my house doesnt even stop his truck, he comes to a slow roll

and throws whatever package he has over parked cars onto our patio.

We are getting a camera system soon so I should have some good videos to show.

I wish you the best on those eggs

And me too!!! I am also a PMLR...newbie, but I know in my office...that is not the way we deal with our customers packages....and no one has a chip on thier shoulder...we appreciate every customer and what ever it is they are shipping...it is awful when everyone is automatically put into the bad bin, I so agree with the both of you, we can't control it once it is out of our hands...it def is a sign of the times eg machines, faster this, faster that.....I love my job and always do my best to do it right....and I always treat others property with the utmost respect....better than I treat my own......Please don't include my little PO in this....we do our best to serve our customers and thier mail...with the utmost respect!!!!

Sue bee , we don't have time to read anything but zip codes while we are sorting. Nor to make sure arrows are up. Our quoto in smalls is 500 pkgs an hour.

ABobwhat, please call UPS about your driver's driving issues or should I say stopping and deliverying issues. I promise that will stop. Dial 1-800-PICK-UPS to get help resolving issues with your package. 2. Press "0" after you are prompted to choose a language

Geeze, this post is just killin' me...BTW...I am not sticking up for the worker in the PO, who said express was the only way, I do believe that she was out of line, and someone should report her actions . However, this just sticks in my head and really upsets me to think of all the negativity that the USPS is getting.....for real...unfortunalty we are in a fast paced world my friends....everybody wants it faster, cheaper and easier, it is just the way it is....and it brings to my mind....remember when you could pick up the phone and actually get a human without going through 110 numbers and being on hold, or listening to a computer tryin to answer your question, or when we used to have to wait in line at the toll booth to pay toll, when going inside to pay for the gas you just pumped was normal, these are just a few...it is the change and demand in our society for faster, cheaper and easier!!! It is not back in the day...things are not processed like it used to be, and it seems we as people always tend to highlight the bad experiences we endure....lets step back and take a moment....how about telling the good....there has to be some, or the business wouldn't be in business.....have you ever...let's see, went to McDonalds and did the whole special order thing, no pickles on my burger please....get your order....there is pickles on it.....or how about....go to Wal-Mart, buy a product, get it home and find that it is missing pieces or doesn't work....bought a pair of shoes...the same brand you have bought for years and years....pair rips out within a month....but the next time you buy shoes...you buy the same brand....I know I have had many, many experiences good and bad....but do I continue to go to McDonalds...Yup. Wal-Mart...Yup....the days of those behind the scene people have turned into machines....and really whose fault is it??? We as society are very demanding...I am to blame as is everyone...today a mailing company would not make it doing business like back in the day....it is not acceptable...not fast enough, and yes we all pay prices sometimes, but it trully is the demand for faster, cheaper and easier that has put us where we are today.....whether we like to admit it or not...it is just the way it is.....no more horse and buggies, can't just pop the hood on your car and fix it, gotta pay someone, can't just buy laundry soap, gotta buy a certain "HE" then you gotta buy something to clean your washer???(makes no sense to me but....)remember when one always had cash in thier pockets, nope not now...very few have cash, but we have our good ol' debit cards...ahhh and did ya ever go to the grocery store, fill your cart...get to checkout and find out the debit machine isn't working, sorry cash only??? Well, I know I am not alone, and the rush, rush is simply from the demands of pleasing todays society...hand made, and humans have been replaced with machines...whose fault is it....really??? I mean not to offend anyone and am pointing no fingers, for the whole world is to blame...I trully am just stating some cold facts!!!
