Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

PLEASE HELP!!!! My buff orpington pullet has tried to lay and egg, I'm not certain if this is her first or not. She left the box and continued to squat and push and when I look there was an egg hanging outside her vent attached by a moderately thick membrane. I am completely panicked and don't know what to do for her. I don't think she is egg bound because the egg is no longer inside her body it it hanging completely out of her vent. I tried soaking her in warm water and noticed no difference. Please respond!!!!!

I would strongly suggest you post in the Emergency & Disease thread. I do not have any experience with that & do not know. I am guessing maybe a prolapse but again do not know what to do or how to treat it. hope you find the answer.

Good Pic's of some Nice Looking Birds!! Those Orp's are coming right along for five months. It's fun watching how fast they grow. Good Luck

Thank you both. I am amazed at how much they have grown and can't wait to see how they turn out.

Slather on Preparation H, and see if there is not a hole at the bottom. The egg is sideways now.See if you can't work the egg out. Keep her separated until everything is back to normal.

Cute baby's chicklett....
Quote: sounds like you have a plan..
To get green eggs you need a blue egg layer..
a Blue egg layer to your Marans will get you green eggs. You might have to get Cream Legbar for blue eggs
The Orp will not help with egg color
Quote: I am sorry you are going threw this. I have no experience with that type of problem..good luck.

Organizing some of my pics on the laptop and thought I would add some to this posting/site.

This first one is of our Buff Orpington rooster, Akmed, taken about the end of June. he was a wonderful friendly roo but just a bit rough on the ladies. During the warmer month of July he went to freezer camp, but not before giving us some eggs which yielded (looks like at this time-8 week old) two new cockerels.

This second pic is again of Akmed and his leading lady Madonna two days after we purchased them in April.

I'll try to get some new pics of the hens, pullets and chic posted a little later as I can find more time.
Gorgeous birds!

Here are some pictures of my buff orpingtons that I hatched this year:

They are very friendly birds and love being picked up and stroked, they are still quite young but looking forward to seeing the full grown cockerels and getting the first egg!!!!
