I decided to let Bella have the day out today. Here and her chick were really active and wanting to move about, so because she will be stuck in all week I decided to let her. I left her alone for 5 mins, came back and she had a dust bath!! It was straight back to bed for her! Had to rinse the wound out to get the muck out then put some more spray on. Her and her baby enjoyed the day out though

Johnn, I'm sorry about what happened to Bella. If the wound is nice and clean and fresh, you are better off putting a few stitches in it yourself. Now that it's been open, I think it would be better to heal from the inside out. My horse had a deep gash once, and it was a matter of washing with soap and water or chlorhexadine, dry a bit, and put a thick coating of whatever you use in there. This way, it keeps the dirt from contacting the skin. Then you wash it off again every day. The other thing I had to do was pull the scab off the top every day for a while so the gash could heal from the inside out. I hope this helps . She sure is beautiful with that chick !


Johnn, if her color is somewhat berry and not red, I would give her some Penicillin

Here is my sweet baby at 7 1/2wks. Had her out with the big girls and the roo came running at her (he's her dad) amd tried to mate with her...she squatted and my 11yo scared him off lol!!! Hoping its a gd sign she is a she!!! But can they breed as parent and child???
