Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Yes you can breed them. But remember putting a barred over a solid will get a mix of chicks, depending on the barring of your male. I could never get a female chocolate cuckoo when I ordered. I finally just made them and now I have plenty!

I love the chocolates and I am working on the silver laced chocolate! Their personality is amazing and they were the first LF English bird I got. After many generations my flock is finally amazing. I love working with the Orpington and my quest goes on to make new colors and have the existing ones.

Double Barred male over solid = single barred males and barred females
Single barred male over solid female = a mix of 25% of each possibility (double barred, barred, solid, single barred)

Very pretty birds. I forgot about my pics! lol

I only have 1 adult now (one just got sick over the past couple of months, I put her down a couple days ago) but I got eggs from another member here and hatched some that are now 3 months old. One hen went broody and I gave her OEGB eggs. About a week later, I got the chocolate eggs. I put them in the incubator. About a week before they were done, the 2nd hen went broody, so I gave her half of the eggs from the incubator. I was able to combine all the chicks with the sister-mommas and they raised them all together, even the ones I hatched. They are all carrying chocolate. Unfortunately, I got a bunch of cockerels, but I still plan to breed them next spring. I also have a separate flock of lavender orpingtons!

Mauve

Mocha, the momma hen that I have left. She's almost a year old.
