Beautiful birds looks like they have great lacing. Im amzed that you havent gotten any eggs yet. Of course I havent raise any Orps from chicks yet so I wouldnt know. Why are you calling them "American"? They are just Orps.

Just to clarify, We have our APA or as you all say " AMERICAN" Orpingtons, YOU say we have "ENGLISH" (in variations of percentages, like 50% or 75% or 100%) Orpingtons

Here are the "INDIANA" Orpingtons. A new variety by me. They were laid and hatched and raised here in Indiana. So I call these my "INDIANA" Orpingtons

Forgot to say on the score card it just says Orpingtons. They did not write "AMERICAN" or even "INDIANA"

The "varieties" of orps are dependent on their coloration not on where they are from. The only purpose that I see of naming orps "English Orps" is as a sales name.

Here's some pics I took of mine just a few days ago. They're nothing special, just some birds I got at the local co-op. I am amazed looking at pics of those dusky blue colored ones. Man, I wish I had some of those!

My roo - he's currently tail-less. I think this is partially because they are moutling, and partially because I have a covert feather-picker. Maybe.

Some of the hens (you can see Big Red the roo is trying to hide behind one of them...)

One of Big Red's kids. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is a roo (and I am thinking out of 9 chicks only four might actually be pullets... *sad*). Future dinner?

Edited to add: Wow looking at pictures of some show winning BO roosters, I am starting to think that my boy is "too red". But, eh, that's why he's not the soup that his brother was... We kept Big Red because of his luscious coloring and mild temper.

Lol, thanks.

I can't help looking at other's orps though.... they all look so fancy to me! Mine are so crude and rugged. Just the way hatchery chicks are, I guess!

There are splash orps??! I was shocked to find out that there were black, blue and self-blue orps, not just Buff Orpingtons! In fact, before I came here, I always called my birds "buffs" when someone asked what they were (people understood me anyway, I guess, lol).

Just how many different colors of orps are there? (I haven't perused this whole thread).
