The "varieties" of orps are dependent on their coloration not on where they are from. The only purpose that I see of naming orps "English Orps" is as a sales name.

I have blue, black, and splash orpingtons that I imported from the UK. I do call mine English orps. I call mine "English" in order to differentiate the type from the orpington that we typically have here in America, not as a "sales name". As you can see from this picture, the difference between the "English" orp and "American" orp is quite staggering.

That is how I feel about my birds too. I think they look better then either the "English" or the "American", so I call them "Indiana". Now IF I can only get the APA to go along with the idea.

Here's Merlin at about 5 mos now. He's HUGE!!

Just started trying to crow last night...sounds like a broken fog horn but has one heck of a bellow on him. He's going to be pretty intimidating when he's full grown.

Couldn't get really good pics of him because he has to be up close and personal to his "mom". He's a sweetheart and follows me everywhere.

The EE's and Speckled Sussex in the pics with him are 12 wks old so you can see the size difference.

(That's a big 5 gallon waterer behind him)

This Jilly...she's just over a year old. She gets to room with the "kids" for now because of a leg injury. My other girl, Isabel is out in the coop with the other hens. She just a tad bigger than Jilly.
